I’m a sucker for cake. Always have been, always will be. I always get excited when it gets close to someone’s birthday because I know cakes involved.

Normally we just pop to Asda and get a shop brought cake. Quick and easy but no where near as tasty as a cake that comes from a small business.

The love and care that goes into a cake from a small business is what I love. And a business that puts so much love into their cakes is bakerdays.

Bakerdays kindly sent us one of their letterbox cakes. And yes, this is a thing. (I’d never heard of it either.) They also do different size cakes and brownies. Yum.

The Designs

Any occasion, Baker Days has you sorted. There’s a selection of their own designs and then designs that you can personalise with your own wording and pictures. The variety is amazing, from subtle designs to more quirky ones. There’s literally something for everyone.

Sponges

It’s not just the design you choose, you also get to decide which cake sponge you want. Chocolate, Victoria, Lemon, Gluten-Free and Dairy free or Vegan. They cater for all needs, which I think is incredible.

I chose the lemon drizzle sponge and had a pink floral design with a birthday message. You only then 27 once right? The cake was in a lovely tin, it was so fresh and the sponge was amazing. The icing wasn’t too sweet and they really complimented each other. The letterbox cake is for 3-4 people, but I managed to get 6 small slices.

I was very happy with it. It was the perfect touch to my birthday. I’d never heard of letterbox cakes before, but they’re such a fantastic idea. I know myself with not being able to see friends and family during lockdown, these are perfect for those lockdown birthdays and special occasions. Or just to send to someone who needs a bit of a pick me up. Remember Valentine’s Day is just around the corner 😉.
